CDex 2.24 Full
CDex with this program, you can quickly rip all the tracks from an audio CD to your computer, in WAV or MP3 format. It's completely intuitive, has several options for customizing the tags and works very simply, making it possible to rip a CD in just a few seconds.
When you open this application, it automatically detects if a CD is in the drive. You have to edit the track names before ripping to your computer, but this is done quickly; just type in the name of the song and press Enter, and the editor is positioned on the next track automatically. You can also edit the name of the artist or band, the year, the genre and the album.
The tracks are saved in folders according to the album, in a directory with the artist's name; all this in your computer's automatic “Music” library. If you export the CD in more than one format, the files are all saved together on the same track, unless you change the name of the disc in one of the processes.
To be able to get the album information automatically, you need to open the settings window, go to the “Remote freedb” tab and authenticate to this service. Otherwise, you can only change this manually, entering all the information on a track-by-track basis.
My opinion
The CDex application is a tool that has everything you need to extract a disc with ease: it lets you choose between a lossless and a compressed format (WAV or MP3), has options for editing tags, corrects spacing and volume errors and many other advanced options.
Those who don't want to mess with more complex settings, however, don't need to, as it allows you to extract all the tracks (or just selected ones) from a disk quickly. However, it is recommended to at least edit the artist and album information, so you don't end up with several unnamed files on your computer.
- Tag information online
It is possible to get an album's information using various online services, but authentication is required in the application's settings window. This is not very well explained and should be simpler - several programs, such as Foobar, for example, have this identification without the need to log in. - WAV and MP3
If you want to extract the tracks in the highest quality, you can do it in WAV with just one button. There's no need to make complex settings, although there are if you prefer. The same goes for the MP3 format, so you can quickly choose whether you want bigger and better files or ones that take up less space.
You can configure the quality of the MP3 in the program's settings, which is very interesting, since a file like this can have various levels of compression. It's well worth downloading and installing CDex, a tool that anyone can use.
